Leveraging our Rural Charm
Mission: Collaborate to advocate for commerce and to drive economic growth on behalf of Snow Hill’s business community.
For more than 300 years, Snow Hill has been an incubator for business. The Pocomoke River and surrounding farmland were the dominant forces that made our town a commercial center. Even now, the river generates commercial functions, but it is more a draw for the region's vitally important ecotourism.
The river teems with life: the Eastern Shore's waterfowl, fish and much more. And yet it increasingly entices visitors to our shores for respite with ancient Cypress trees towering over lily pads that look like a Monet painting.
Our business community occupies century-old buildings adjacent to the river. A self-sustaining commercial hub that once catered to farmers, the growing variety of enterprises -- including a restaurant, ice cream shop, artist studios and B&Bs -- also serve our visitors searching to recharge.
As a Chamber, we enjoy support from nearly all of Snow Hill's businesses and organizations -- creating a synergy that allows a small group of people to create an active downtown and slate of events that benefits our members.
Events like our Oyster Roast in February sells out in hours and draws hundreds to our Main Street to celebrate the Eastern Shore's bounty. We participate in many town events including the Blessing of the Combines in August to honor our farmers and pray for a bountiful harvest. Each July 4th, we put on a fireworks show and as businesses and residents decorate for the December holiday season, the Chamber sponsors a holiday decorating contest to spotlight their talents.
We recognize the importance of working together to entice new visitors to Snow Hill and share a way of life enjoyed here for more than three centuries. We do so with open minds and a simple mission: Collaborate to advocate for commerce and to drive economic growth on behalf of Snow Hill’s business community.
